Triple Hexagon Lifter in Serene Tethered Flight

It’s a fundamental truth… By their very design, Lifters are quite simply delicate creations. These things are constructed of thin aluminum foil held together by tape, fine steel wire stretched between a few flimsy glued balsa wood strips. There isn’t really all that much to them to begin with, which is exactly how it must be for them to even function. Having learned from personal experience, an overweight Lifter just will not fly, no matter how desperately angels are evoked, which sort of defeats the entire purpose of building them.

Thus in this life, on rare or unexpected occasions, sometimes a physical object may travel in an unintended direction, with most unfortunate consequences….

Triple Hexagon Lifter – Totally and Completely Retired – 06/26/03

Case In Point: Oh… DANG IT! Sadly, this is not the first time a Lifter has met with an unfortunately fate, and been abruptly retired. While the fine science of Electrogravitics does allow me to construct these fragile balsa and foil contraptions, which then silently floating upon the air… Any Lifter left exposed in to the surrounding environment is a vulnerable thing waiting for it’s own demise. As can be seen here, my favorite new Lifter was absolutely no match for one of thebookmonger’s exceedingly large volumes, which accidentally toppled off a shelf from high above, followed by a quick KER-SPLAT! Oh well… Guess there’s no arguing gravity won this particular round.

Yet isn’t it true all human creation is ultimately destined to disintegrate back into the dust from which it originally came? Attachments can be such funny things. Suppose I will take this as a sign that it’s time to get back to the old drawing board….
